Heather Ring is the Founder and Creative Director of Wayward, an award-winning landscape, architecture and art practice based in London and Los Angeles. Over the past decade, she has guided this community-centered green design studio from its roots as an innovative platform for plant exchanges to become an ambitious vehicle for social change. A Chartered Landscape Architect of the Landscape Institute, she received her Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Melinda Ring serves as the Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. While earning her medical degree and completing her internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago, Dr. Ring’s passion for integrative medicine evolved along with her holistic philosophy of needing to treat the whole person, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, to achieve true health and healing. Following residency, she completed the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine, and cares for patients with a wide variety of conditions and preventive health needs.
The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern Medicine (OCIM) is one of the most comprehensive integrative medicine patient care programs affiliated with a teaching hospital in the United States. Integrative Medicine has been called the “new medicine” but in many ways, it is a return to the original practice and philosophy of medicine. It emphasizes the relationship between the doctor and patient, the innate healing ability of the body, and the importance of addressing all aspects of an individual’s life to attain health and healing.
Our vision at OCIM is to create a center of excellence and leadership that provides safe and effective integrative medicine therapies, conducts leading-edge research on diverse healing options, offers advanced training in integrative medicine for healthcare professionals, and sponsors educational programs for our community to enhance health. OCIM feels a strong commitment to transform healthcare by being a partner in the shared mission of optimal health for both the medical and the layperson community.
